Sustainability Assured: Wallcovering You Can Feel Good Specifying
With high sustainability standards, LEVEY is committed to being at the forefront of innovation and offering sustainable solutions to the architecture and design community. Our commitment to providing sustainable solutions to the architecture and design community is why we’re proud to be the only independent Canadian wallcovering distributor recognized by the Wallcoverings Association to achieve the NSF/ANSI 342 certification*. Every so often, you may see our ‘NSF certified’ badge displayed in association with LEVEY products, whether it be on our tipcards in your firm’s library, or on our website, but what does this certification mean?
In 2008, the Wallcoverings Association set out to create a standard that would drive continual improvement in environmental sustainability, as well as social responsibility. The NSF / ANSI 342 Sustainability assessment is touted as the foremost sustainability standard by which to evaluate and certify sustainability of wallcovering products across their entire product life cycle. NSF Sustainability Standards allows for full transparency regarding conformance requirements, and for architects and designers to be able to verify and distinguish the environmental claims of our products with the intention of making more meaningful marketplace comparisons.
Criteria for Certification:
This sustainability standard was developed through a consensus-based process that involves manufacturers, suppliers, regulatory agencies, end users and other industry participants, this national standard is effective in establishing a consistent approach to wallcovering manufacturing and distribution processes that are sustainable and environmentally considerate. NSF / ANSI 342 requires relevant criteria across product lifecycles from raw material extraction through manufacturing, distribution, use and end-of-life management – meaning that both manufacturer and distributor must qualify to the sustainability criteria to be able to display NSF / ANSI 342 badges.
Certification is obtained only through compliance by manufacturer and distributor. In order to attain our NSF / ANSI 342 certification, LEVEY as a distributor had to meet the following criteria in order to show that we are taking action to ensure the way we manage and distribute product is sustainable in the long run:
Corporate governance to show that that we are working toward being constantly sustainable going forward
Product distribution that seeks to be more environmentally friendly
Recycling support
Waste minimization showing that we seek to waste as little product as possible after the initial sale
Benefits for Architects and Designers:
The Wallcoverings Association NSF / ANSI 342 sustainability standard gives designers and architects a means of easily identifying and comparing sustainable wallcovering products and meeting client’s potential sustainability standards. It also allows for designers and architects to make meaningful marketplace comparisons and identify companies committed to advancing sustainability.

LEVEY’s show stopping booth at Architect @ Work Canada 2019
For the third consecutive year, LEVEY has proudly participated in the 2019 edition of Architect@Work Canada at the Enercare Centre in Toronto. An exclusive industry event, Architect@Work Canada was an unprecedented opportunity to introduce everMagnetic Self Adhesive (everMagnetic-SA) to the Canadian architecture and design community – an innovative new addition to our vast selection of dry erase wallcovering solutions.
We excitedly unveiled everMagnetic-SA as part of our everWalls collection of commercial grade dry erase wallcoverings to the attendees of Architect@Work Canada. Designed for combined magnetic attachment and dry-erasability, this innovative new dry-erase wallcovering is an ideal solution for public environments that may necessitate heavy use such as education, healthcare, hospitality and corporate applications. The benefits of everMagnetic-SA is expected to be popular amongst designers and architects seeking to give clients that require a rapid turnaround time for installation the ultimate collaboration surface that doesn’t sacrifice magnetic performance for it’s convenience.
A cost effective, combined dry erase and magnetic solution that installs conveniently via the innovative self-adhesive backing, everMagnetic-SA allows for immediate use after install and effectively eliminates the accumulation of time, costs and materials used associated with repurposing surfaces into functional, highly magnetic collaboration spaces – all with superior non-ghosting performance.
With Architect@Work Canada as our stage, we wanted to introduce everMagnetic-SA in a unique and engaging way. Joining forces with Toronto-based artist and architecture student Brandon Cesarone (@BC.Arts on instagram) – the LEVEY team commissioned Brandon to execute live artwork during the hours of the event, utilizing everMagnetic-SA as his canvas. This was a grand opportunity to appeal to the creative minds of the A+D community and showcase how LEVEY continuously strives for innovation – Brandon was challenged to formulate a creative piece that draws inspiration from a current topic in the Toronto architecture + design community; the revitalization of Ontario Place.
Albeit not a proposal, Brandon formulated a creative glimpse into the future of ‘what could be’ – a futuristic, international and local transport system that features hyperloops and drone delivery. Extending not only further into Lake Ontario but below the water level as well, Brandon’s creative vision is inspired by the notion of arcology – the fusion of architecture with ecology. The abstract sketch stylistically outlines a centralized city hub above and below Ontario Place – the intention of the piece to encourage the forward-thinking minds of designers and architects to run with their creativity and think beyond the familiar. Guests of the booth were further encouraged to interact with everMagnetic-SA and expand upon Brandon’s vision, no matter how ‘out there’ their idea may be, as everything drawn on the surface was easily erasable.
